'08 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Mitsubishi beefs up its Eclipse for the 2008 model year with a number of added perks and features in the 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The hatchback coupe and the convertible models now have additional features for the comfort and entertainment of its passengers.

The V6 engine still being the best that this range of vehicles offers, the 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse is capable of generating up to 263 horsepower. The displacement of 3.8 liters is also sufficient to generate a torque of 260lb-ft.

The 162hp engine, however, does not lose its priority in the market, either. A five-speed Sportronic transmission is available with the sportier GTs, with the option of a six-speed manual transmission also being available.

With high horsepower, ample space and a tuned-for-performance suspension, the 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse adds the small but no less significant topping of the mileage. 28mpg on highways is definitely one of the best figures that a vehicle of this class can deliver.

'07 Mitsubishi Eclipse

The 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse brings forward a new contender for stylish convertibles with its very own convertible edition in the 2007 model year. The convertible, dubbed as Spyder, comes with a heated rear window and a fabric top rather than a hardtop. The four-seater convertible has slightly less horsepower than the hatchback coupe edition, but its looks definitely make up for the deficit in the performance.

Different models of the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse can be powered by either an Inline-4 or a V6 engine in the high-performance sporty GT trim level. While the I-4 can generate a moderate horsepower of 162hp, the 263 horsepower that the coupe enjoys is a definite indicator of the performance level of this vehicle.

The GT model of the 2007 Eclipse has five speed levels in its automatic transmission, in contrast with the four-speed automatic transmission in the other models. Multiple airbags and an ABS ensure the safety of passengers regardless of the velocity of the vehicle.

'06 Mitsubishi Eclipse

The 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse receives several styling enhancements after the 2005 model year. As a coupe or a hatchback, the 2006 make of the Eclipse does not externally reflect too many changes in the dimension – with the exception of the coupe that gains a few inches since the 2005 model year.

The 2006 Eclipse is powered by either an I-4 or a V-6 engine. Several trim levels with different variations of the standard powertrain are available. For example, the GS trim level delivers a horsepower of 162hp. At the same time, the more powerful V6 of the GT model can hit as much as 263 horsepower. The Sportronic automatic transmission is available with four speed options in the GS and five in the GT models.

The availability of a rear spoiler is a definite indication of the extent of power that the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse is capable of delivering. The GT model also has a traction control mechanism for better handling.
